Slurping Turtle, chi

Tartare of Hamachi in Taro Root Taco, Chef's Choice assorted Sashimi, Octopus Salad, Duck Fat Fried Chicken, Foie Gras, Shishito Peppers with bonito flakes
(not pictured: Crispy Curry Croquettes, Tonkotsu Ramen, Baird Brewing Rising Sun Pale Ale)

i was so happy that there was finally a place that served freakin SHISHITO PEPPERS and legit Tonkotsu Ramen in Chicago, along with standard yakitori items. I've heard about Slurping Turtle for awhile and it just made it more awesome that M knew the co-owner of Slurping Turtle and he stuffed our faces till we couldn't move and gave us sake while we waited for a seat and Baird Brewing Rising Sun Pale Ale with our meal. If he wasn't taking care of us, i'm pretty sure i wouldn't have enjoyed it as much because service for other people were really slow (small place but they pack it in with so many seats). Did i mention he also comped 70% of our meal? It was greaaaaaaaaaaaat

best part: the 2 suburban moms having a girls night out in the city mustered up the courage and worldly-ness and asked their waiter if they serve dimsum during lunch...

Birthday Dinner at Three Aces, chi

Short Rib Pizzetta and Beef Tongue Hash. mm... i guess that's why it's so dim in there, but it was mighty tasty!

Goodman, London

You can't go and England and not have the local beef. Unfortunately
for my gracious host, they only had the 800 grams of Scottish grass
fed. It was really good, but it can't beat Midwest corn fed. Thanks
for dinner G, next one is on me.

Ayingers Speis & Trank, Munich

Tried to get a seat at Haufbrauhaus, but was too intimidated to sit
with a rowdy table of Germans by my lonesome. Hence wandered across
the cobble stone street to Ayingers and found enlightenment.
Pretzels, slow cooked pork shank and shoulder, kraut, and a salad to
push it all down. Beer is by the half liter, count'em up, I dare you.

The Grazing Goat, London

Steak and ale pie. With mashed neeps and lardon brussel sprouts.

El Palace, Barcelona.

I guess I had the palace all to myself.

Blanc @ Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona

Berlinas 3 = €1.5

Looked up a hole-in-the-wall tapas joint with great anticipation of
delicious hidden gems of tappas. Hiked 2km to get there, looked
through the window when I got there... place was operated by Chinese.
Good one, damn Internets. Consolation prize? Bakery next door with a
window full of 'berlinas.'
